Riverview is a neighborhood in Kansas City, KS, and is an older, small neighborhood with houses built around the 1920s. It is now a historical district with beautiful old houses and stately trees along winding streets.

Riverview has been improved by KCMO Parks and Recreation for current residents as well as those purchasing homes in the future. A few parks have been added to Riverview-Shawnee Park, a neighborhood recreation center, and picnic tables in the residential alleys.

Riverview is close to several highly regarded public schools: Highland Park Elementary School, Central Academy of Excellence, and Ruskin High School. The Ruskin Community Center offers many activities for kids including dance classes. A nearby favorite is the Ruskin Heights Community Center, which has a nice playground and hosts field trips for kids.

The nearby River Market shopping district offers specialty shops, restaurants, art galleries, and events on weekends. Movie buffs love The Screenland Crown and Three Trails Shopping Center which offers a theatre.

Additionally, the Riverview Neighborhood Association organizes dozens of free events throughout the year including Bingo, picnics, potlucks, yard sales, and Halloween Carnival for neighborhood kids. The neighborhood hosts its own Riverview Fall Festival every October as well as Holiday Decorations Contest in December.

The neighborhood is home to several notable Kansas City business owners. Lynn Hausler, the founder of Fuego restaurant in Zona Rosa, purchased a house in Riverview and is active in the community with his family.
