Oceans of Fun

Oceans of Fun is an amusement park in Kansas City, USA. It was built by MarineLand sometime before 1994.

It was purchased by Cedar Fair in 1997. When it first opened, the park did not have a roller coaster. The reason for this is because MarineLand believed that roller coasters were too rough on marine animals. The history of the park’s roller coasters stretches back to when it was MarineLand. The park’s first-ever coaster was the Stingray, a steel roller coaster. It opened in 1984 and ran for 18 years before being removed to make room for a newer, bigger version of a similar ride: Zonga.  Zonga was a steel roller coaster that opened in 2002 and closed immediately due to issues with the ride’s quality. It remained standing for less than a year before it was removed as well, allowing construction on the next ride to begin: Storm Chaser. Storm Chaser was a steel roller coaster that opened in 2003 and still operates today. It was the first roller coaster to be built at Oceans of Fun since 1992’s Boomerang, which was relocated from Six Flags Marine World when it was purchased by Cedar Fair.

Since both of its predecessors were removed so quickly, some enthusiasts and

Oceans of Fun is home to many water rides, most of which are roller coasters. The park also has many other rides including a train ride, a chair lift ride, and go-karts. There is an arcade, gift shops, and games in the park as well. Visitors may bring their own food or purchase it at restaurants throughout the park.

Unfortunately, Oceans of Fun is not very well-known. The park receives few visitors, especially compared to other parks across the country that are similar in size and price.

The water park is open from mid-April through early September. This year it will be closed on Easter Sunday, May 10th. Regular admission prices of $39 were still being charged as of last year even though the park’s status is listed as permanently closed on some other websites. The hours vary throughout the year but are generally from 10am-7pm on weekdays and 10am-8pm on weekends.

The area has many hotels as well as restaurants, though some visitors choose to go to Worlds of Fun or another park instead because those parks have more rides. This can be disappointing for those that visit Oceans of Fun and then want to go somewhere else.
